Maxine Begay Storm Pattern Navajo Rug

Discover the enduring artistry of Navajo weaving with this exceptional Storm Pattern wool rug by Navajo artist Maxine Begay. Measuring 47" × 44", this handwoven textile reflects the craftsmanship and cultural traditions of the Diné (Navajo) people.

The Storm Pattern is one of the most recognizable and symbolically meaningful designs in Navajo rug weaving. Traditionally interpreted as representing the emergence of humanity from the center of the earth, its central motif and four extending arms are associated with the four sacred mountains of the Diné homeland. Additional elements are traditionally connected with guardian spirits, protection, and harmony with the natural world.

With its nearly square proportions and substantial dimensions, this Maxine Begay Navajo weaving makes a distinctive statement in a collection of Native American art or a thoughtfully designed Southwestern interior. Displayed in a home, office, or gallery, this original wool rug offers a meaningful connection to the artistry and heritage of Navajo weaving.
